چکیده

Anisotropic electrical conduction measurements have been carried out for thin films of vertically-aligned single-walled carbon nanotubes (VA-SWCNTs) grown by an alcohol catalytic CVD process. Combined with controlled synthesis and structure characterization by optical spectroscopy, the influence of the aligned structure on the electrical conduction has been identified. The out-of-plane conductivity of the films was measured to be about 1.11 S/mm, independently of the film thickness. On the other hand, the in-plane conductivity was found to be more than an order of magnitude smaller, which gives rise to highly anisotropic electrical conduction, reflecting the high degree of alignment in the VA-SWCNT films. The in-plane conductivity decreases with * Corresponding author. Tel: +81 3 58416421; Fax: +81 3 58006983. E-mail address: [email protected] (S. Anisotropy in the X-ray absorption of vertically aligned single wall carbon nanotubes

Carbon nanotubes are archetypical one dimensional systems, with peculiar anisotropic electronic properties. Only recently μm thick films of vertically aligned SWNT became available. The vertical alignment of the nanotube mats allows the realization of scattering geometries promoting specific dipole transitions parallel and normal to the axis of the SWNT. We find well expressed mosaic spreads fo...

Detachment of vertically aligned single-walled carbon nanotube films from substrates and their re-attachment to arbitrary surfaces

Department of Mechanical Engineering, The University of Tokyo 7-3-1 Hongo, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo 113-8656, Japan Received 31 December 2005; in final form 20 February 2006 Abstract A method for detachment of vertically aligned single-walled carbon nanotube (VA-SWNT) films from substrates simply using hot water has been developed. The VA-SWNT films were peeled off spontaneously by submersing the subst...

Formation of highly dense aligned ribbons and transparent films of single-walled carbon nanotubes directly from carpets.

Utilizing aligned carbon nanotube arrays grown from chemical vapor deposition, we present a highly scalable route toward the formation of ribbons and ultrathin transparent films directly from vertically aligned single-walled carbon nanotube arrays (SWNT carpets). To "lay-over" the aligned nanotubes to form a film, we use a roller which acts to compress the film and preserve the alignment of nan...

Cvd Growth and Heat Transfer of Carbon Nanotubes

Carbon nanotubes and graphene are extra-ordinal material with remarkable electrical, optical, mechanical and thermal properties. Films of vertically aligned (VA-) SWNTs and horizontally aligned (HA-) SWNTs are synthesized on quartz and crystal quartz substrates, respectively. These aligned film should inherit the remarkable properties of SWNTs. The recent progress in growth control and characte...

Angular dependent anisotropic terahertz response of vertically aligned multi-walled carbon nanotube arrays with spatial dispersion

Spatial dispersion effect of aligned carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in the terahertz (THz) region has significance for both theoretical and applied consideration due to the unique intrinsically anisotropic physical properties of CNTs. Herein, we report the angular dependent reflection of p-polarized THz wave from vertically aligned multi-walled CNT arrays in both experiment and theory. The spectra ind...
